CASA Chairman Mr Dick Smith resigned on 22 March 1999 amid allegations of collusion between the CASA board and airlines over the Class G airspace trial. The Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee announced an inquiry into Airspace 2000 and related issues including BAe 146 aircraft fumes. The subsequent hearings revealed many issues in air safety and daily concerns.
