This Day in History: 1937-01-24
British Klemm Eagle I VH-USI “Golden Eagle” operated by Mary Bradford Shepherd crashed while taking off at Mascot airport, Sydney on 24 January 1937. While taking off the aircraft crashed after reaching 50 feet altitude and collided with stationary Desoutter II VH-UEE. The aircraft caught fire after the collision and the pilot, Mary Bradford, and her two passengers, Harriet Jane Coley and Ellen Latimer, were all killed. Source: The Telegraph (Brisbane, Qld.)
