1932 The Lockheed Orion 9A "Spirit of Fun" NC12229 took off from the small level area at Anderson Park in Neutral Bay, NSW on 17 October 1932. Anderson Park was used on several occasions as a take-off strip for aircraft brought ashore from ships. The Spirit of Fun arrived in Sydney aboard the S.S. Monterey on 13th October 1932. The following day the Orion was taken by barge to Anderson Park at Neutral Bay from where it was flown to Mascot. The aircraft was undertaking a round-world tour by Arthur M. Loew of MGM Studios and Joseph Rosthal. The pilot was Captain J.P. Dickson. The Orion departed for Melbourne on 15th October from where it flew to Wyndham W.A., eventually departing Australia on 17th October bound for Bali. The aircraft later crashed after hitting a tree on take-off from Victoria Falls, Rhodesia on 17th November, killing Capt Dickson and injuring Loew and Rosthal. 1994 On 17 October 1994, the Minister for Transport announced a judicial inquiry to be conducted by Sir Lawrence Street into the handling of operations of Seaview Air by the CAA following a fatal accident of a Seaview Air Rockwell Aero Commander en-route to Lord Howe Island which killed nine aboard. On 23 December 1994, the Minister announced the appointment of a second commissioner, Mr James Staunton who later replaced Sir Lawrence Street. The Commission of Inquiry into the Relations Between the CAA and Seaview Air commenced on 16 January 1995. The intended reporting date was 31 May 1995, to the Minister for Transport, the Hon Laurie Brereton MP, but the report did not appear until 8 October 1996 (see below) with a new Government and Minister the Hon John Sharp MP. Three other inquiries were conducted through the Parliamentary (Morris) committee, the Federal Police inquiry into dealings between some CAA officers and Seaview, and by the BASI investigation.
