Our August 2022 Melbourne meeting was held in person at the RAAF Association meeting room in Hawthorn and also ābroadcastā to interstate members via Zoom.
Qantas captain and former RAAF pilot Richard de Crespigny AM gave us an enlightening talk about his experience of the in-flight engine failure aboard an Airbus A380 and how his career experiences and personal curiosity prepared him to lead the flight-deck team safely through the ordeal.
For his talk to the AHSA, Richard assumed that his listeners had already read his book “QF32” which described the incident on a flight just out of Singapore on 4 November 2010. So his talk does not include a “blow by blow” description of the incident.
